One of the main precepts of the Church is to confess our sins at least once a year. The best time to do this is during the Lenten season, before Easter Sunday. This year our parish is not doing a parish Lenten Penance Service as we are going to combine with the Area Wide Lenten Penance Service which will take place at — Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament, Westfield on Monday, April 7 @ 6:30 p.m.
Most parishes have confessions available on Saturday afternoons. In our deanery, these parishes are also offering additional confession times during the Lenten season:
Sacred Heart, Feeding Hills on Mondays from 6:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m.
Sts. Peter & Casmir, Westfield on Mondays from 6:00 p.m.-6:45 p.m.
St. Thomas the Apostle, West Springfield on Tuesdays from 6:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m.
Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament, Westfield on Tuesdays from 6:00-7:00 p.m.
St. John the Evangelist, Agawam on Wednesdays from 4:30 p.m.-5:30 p.m.
St. Mary’s, Westfield on Wednesdays from 5:00 p.m.-5:45 p.m.
Each year the Diocese of Springfield asks that all confessions take place BEFORE Holy Thursday which is April 17. Do not wait until the last minute!
Come to this beautiful sacrament, cleanse your soul, and receive God’s profound & abundant mercy this Lenten season. It doesn’t matter how long it’s been since your last confession. He’s waiting for YOU!!!
Don’t forgot to do a good, thorough examination of conscience. Here’s an excellent one: https://fathersofmercy.com/fathers-of-mercy-examinations/. We also have them available on the credenza at the top of the ramp heading into the main church.
May God bless you this Lenten season and beyond! — Fr. Matthew
